So think of it this way.
If black really was bad luck for the bride why is it acceptable for the groom and his attendants. Another long held belief is that it is inappropriate to wear black as it could be interpreted as more funereal than celebratory. Because you would normally wear black to a funeral and it represents that. Yes a black dress would be considered bad luck to wear a black dress to a wedding.
The older set would point and cringe and depending on their culture make signs to ward off the evil. If you ask my grandmother even my mum they all still say black is a no no. Also because white represents new beginnings and black represents to the end. I mean black is the funural colour but i wear black very often i have had much luck comming to me when i wear it.
It was tradition not to wear black to a wedding it was bad luck referred to as black clouds at the wedding. In some cultures widows weeds were ok to wear to a wedding but likely the widow would not have attended anyway. But wearing a different color dress for example pink wouldn t be bad or any other color besides black. You just have to try it out.

Traditionally speaking wearing black to a wedding has always been considered a bit taboo. I don t think so. Wearing black used to signify that the attendee was making a statement against the marriage. This is as outdated as the notion that a woman.
