When knee pain is felt predominantly on the front of the knee.

People with osteoarthritis in the knee may display other symptoms such as loss of motion or difficulty bending the knee. Beyond the pain being felt on the inner or outer sides of the knees it can also seem to arise from the front or back of the knee. Typically affects young healthy people. This condition can easily cause pain in the back of the knee.

The most common site of cartilage breakdown is underneath the kneecap patella. Worse when you first stand up play sports come downstairs and apply pressure through the kneecap. Such injury can cause fracture of patella femur tibia and fibula resulting in pain over front and back side of knee. Injury to the knee or a gradual wearing down from age arthritis or overuse can cause chondromalacia.

Injury such as fracture of femur tibia fibula and knee joint dislocation causes intense severe pain spread over back of the knee joint.
