Should I Get A Male Or Female Cat If I Already Have A Male
Olivia Luz
With time it should be possible to introduce a new cat into an existing household but this may take a great deal of time and very gradual introduction.
Usually opposite sex pairings are safest. If you have an indoor cat they may be at less risk of escape but they will still have the frustrations which arise from not being able to mate. As for whether to get a male or female many people have believed for years you should get a cat of the opposite sex. Although there are some behavioral differences between male and female cats as they grow from kittens to adults a cat s genetics and environment play a bigger role in how well the two of you will bond.
If your cat is an adult and is established within your home as the only cat then you should think carefully about introducing another feline. Male cats are said to be more even tempered and predictable than female cats and even more laid back and relaxed than their female counterparts. The truth is that the sex of the cat really doesn t matter when it comes to choosing the purrfect pet for you. While your little girl is nice and laid back you don t know that about another female.
Both from my own experience and the majority of cat owners find that male cats especially neutered male cats tend to be more affectionate than female cats. Female cats are not the only consideration.
