Feeders should be kept clean filled and available to birds for at least a week or two after the last hummingbird has been seen visiting.
This will provide nectar for any. If you are surprised with one you might need to keep your nectar warm for them. If you are interested in the possibility of having one stop at your location don t stop feeding hummingbirds. These hummingbirds such as the rufous are more cold tolerant but require a greater commitment from you.

And then a week or so longer just in case a straggler comes through. Putting out more than one feeder can reduce fighting for dominant feeder rights.
