Old Fashioned Southern Sour Cream Pound Cake

This old fashioned sour cream pound cake has a beautiful golden sugary crust and is fluffy yet dense inside.
I think out of all the classic plain pound cakes cream cheese butter and vanilla sour cream is my favorite. Blend in vanilla lemon juice and sour cream. The end result is a classic buttery cake with a moist crumb and a beautiful golden brown exterior. One of our favorite treats to make for holidays is today s old fashioned sour cream pound cake.
It s good warm room temperature and cold. Add sifted dry ingredients to batter. Cream together sugar and butter add the egg yolks one at time. Add to wet ingredients and beat well.
In a separate bowl beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Blend in vanilla lemon juice and sour cream. Being that this recipe uses buttermilk and sour cream the taste is very rich with a tight moist crumb. Into a separate bowl stir together flour salt and baking soda.
